Excellent point. In a pinch, you can also cut up road bike inner tube as well. My preference is for silicone tubing from McMaster-Carr, which doesn't get dirty or break down like latex does, lasts a lot longer, and costs about $1/foot, which will ge…

Stop paying a fortune for rubber bands!!

I saw something tonight on a prosthetic supply website that really got under my skin so I decided to write this up.

I quit using the standard rubber bands on my hook about a year ago. Because of the nerve damage to my remaining hand they are nearly impossible for me to put on by myself. While in my local farm supply store one day I happened to stumble upon some small green rubber bands used for animal castration, and some special pliers to put them on with (I think Sean was the one who told me… Continue

Table Saw

Being a former carpenter, I am still trying to do some furniture building woodworking. While running a small piece through the table saw, my hook bounced off the fence and into the blade. I quickly yanked my hook out, but not before getting a face full of stainless steel. Needless to say my hook faired better than the blade. I guess these things are pretty tough.

Body Powered Bands

Who is doing the body powered bands research? I have a severed Ulnar nerve on my left hand so I have to use a ton of rubber bands on my right limb prosthetic for grip. I want to know the results of the research before I order a ton of stuff that won't work. Anybody out there have experience with the tubing yet?

Hey JR!

I just joined. It is an honor to have you as my Sentry! It is because of people like you, that we are truly able to live free! Send me your home address to sales@penfishingrods.com. I would like to donate a NEW 2008 Pen fishing rod extreme rod and reel combo. They are very cool, just go watch my video on penfishingrods.com. This rod and reel combo is ultra light action. I want you to make yourself a new fishing rod to use. You are now challenged with the task. I know you can do it!!! If you need help, hell, I'm in New York City.. You aren't that far away.. Just wait till summer comes though.. It's freezing! hehe

Call me to discuss making a few extra bucks on these rods/reels. and getting your combo! I want to see you make it work!

My way of saying thanks!

JR -

Could I talk you into doing an instructable on how to make your own attachments?

Our group on their site is here:
http://www.instructables.com/group/openprosthetics/

The interface is pretty easy, and there's a pretty easy way to mark up the pictures.

Alternatively, voicethread.com is a good lazy man's way to do voice over pictures (I'm all about economy of effort).
